Unleashing the Female Goal-Getter Within

As women sometimes we give so much to others that we forget to do things for ourselves. We cater to the needs of others day after day, month after month, and year after year, and before we know it our dreams have been put on the back burner. If that is your story you can change it right now.
You deserve to achieve every dream that is in your heart, and you must begin to think that you deserve to be a goal-getter. Becoming a female goal-getter just means that you are a woman who is motivated, to achieve her goals and dreams. And it doesn't matter how long you have had your dream in your heart, you still have time to get it in your hands. Becoming a female goal-getter doesn't mean that you are selfish, and it doesn't mean that you are neglecting people or things around you, but what it does mean is that you are making a decision to go for what you want, in a very purposeful and powerful way.
Becoming a goal-getter also means that you are creating space in your life for you. More than likely if I ask you if you have any goals, you will say "yes." Because most of us do have goals, maybe we haven't shared them with anyone, or maybe we have, but most of us have something within, that we want to achieve. And it is not beneficial if we continue to move forward without mastering our goals.
What goal are you trying to achieve? What dream is in your heart, that you would love to get in your hands? What is something that you have wanted to do, but you haven't found the motivation to do it? Do you feel like it is too late? If you feel like it is too late, then I have good news for you. It is not too late, you can still take steps to become a goal-getter. This can get you on the path to happiness and feeling fulfilled.
You can even start becoming a goal-getter today, by putting your priorities in order. Set up a plan and make your goals happen. Do what you need to do to realistically reach your dreams. Set small goals that you can easily achieve, and then work on conquering bigger goals. Don't think about how much time has passed by, but think about the fact that you have this moment, to be all that you were born to be.

How to Stick to Your New Year's Resolutions and Goals

So, you've made some resolutions and goals for the New Year. Maybe you decided to start a new fitness regime, head to bed a little earlier, or spend more time with your family. That's awesome, but what happens when your goals are suddenly derailed by life, a month or so into the New Year? You knew something would get in the way eventually. How do you stay the course?

Stay strong and persevere. I was on a special meal plan for a cleanse when friends invited my husband and I to one of our favourite restaurants for their anniversary. My husband asked if I really wanted to go, because he thought it would be torture. I said I was sure - I didn't want to miss it and it would be a good test of my mettle. I scoped out the menu online and then gave the restaurant a call to see how they could accommodate me. On the night of, I had a wonderful time with my friends and the kitchen served up a beautiful tasting menu to everyone, and even came up with some great veggie alternatives for me. I may not have had any grains, meat, fish or dairy, but I had a heck of a meal and felt special because of the extra effort they took for me. My willpower was definitely pushed to the limits during the final course - dessert - but I was proud of myself for sticking to it.
It's all about the planning. There are always special occasions on the horizon that threaten to sabotage your goals. Don't let them. Take control and plan ahead. Also, realize that you may not be able to stick to your goal every time, but that's okay. If a holiday comes up and I don't think I can stay with my plan, I allow for a cheat night and go back to my program the next day. You need to be flexible if you want to commit to your new resolution for the long run.
Setbacks are okay. I signed up for a session of spin classes to help me stay conditioned for summer riding and was stoked to go spinning with a friend every week. It's Thursday morning and I'm feeling good about staying on track for week three. I have my bike gear on and I'm getting the kids going - prodding them out of bed. My daughter says she's sick. Argh, this is not good, the kid is going to kybosh my new routine! Can't she get sick on Wednesday instead? But I need to adjust, I can't let missing the odd class affect my motivation. Family events, illnesses and more can take you off course, but they are just little blips in the grand scheme of things.
When life gets in the way of your goals, don't panic. Just get back on that horse again and keep your eye on the prize.

This double amputee has been given a quite incredible pair of limbs

This man has become the first bilateral shoulder-level amputee to wear and simultaneously control two modular prosthetic limbs.
Leslie Baugh, who lost both his arms in an electrical accident 40 years ago, controls the new limbs simply by thinking about them.
Maybe I’ll be able to put some change in a pop machine and get the pop out of it. Simple things like that most no one thinks of. And it’s re-available to me.

How Will They Miss You ?

We live our lives in so much of a blur,
We have no idea of the cost we may incur,
When death makes its unpredictable stake,
Those left behind are left
With that unmistakable ache.
Staring back at that haunting scene,
Considering what on earth our lives have been,
We are left with an awesome opportunity,
To get in touch with our familial community.
When all's said and done, family count,
We hardly realise now just the amount,
We can save the regret if we make the effort now,
And leave them with memories all to endow.
***
Death is a cruel reality for the family man or woman that leaves loved ones behind.
What should haunt him or her - the idea that they leave behind a myriad of potential - and because of that will be sorely missed - doesn't really occur to them.
Most people think death won't happen to them. Everyone knows they'll die, but few people imagine that death stalks us all. We take for granted the breath in our lungs and the electricity in our hearts that keeps us alive. We focus so much on having enough for our retirement, yet we focus so little on the slim chance we mightn't make retirement.
This is not about being morbid. It's about making the most of our lives from a post-death viewpoint, so those regrets we might otherwise have will be few; so there is much less pain and more thankfulness for our lives from our loved ones.
***
If we live life more from the vantage point of our deaths, we gain much more meaning for a life well lived.
A life well lived must be a central purpose of life; a life of love, of peace, of joy.
***
How will they miss you? What is that you do now within your family that makes you indispensable? How do you operate in your community that people value you so?
We might think of the things we don't do that we should do. But what about the things we do actually do. Can we do them better? Can we gain an appreciation of what these things are and plan how they might be done if we weren't around?
Now is the time to make the difference you can make. Now is the time to be awake and aware. Now is the opportunity. Now is when we do what we should do.

3 Kind of People You Need in Life

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."
-Helen Keller
Mark Twain (author and national treasure), Henry H. Rogers (a Standard Oil Executive), Alexander Graham Bell (revolutionary inventor), and Anne Sullivan (world-renowned teacher).
Do you know what these amazing people have in common?
They are just four of the many people who encouraged, empowered, and walked closely with Helen Keller to help her reach her full potential. We don't have the same challenges Helen Keller faced, but we each have our own obstacles and need people to walk alongside of us.
My guess is each of Helen Keller's friends played an important and unique role to her success in life. Similarly there are 3 specific kinds of people that I believe are critical to have intertwined in your life as well.
I like to refer to them as your cheerleaders, coaches, and counselors.
Your cheerleaders:
They are your biggest fans. Those who will give you continual encouragement, love, and support. They will speak life and love to you and your dreams. When you are struggling, they find ways to lift you up and bring you hope.
Your coach:
Your coach also gives you encouragement, but they also have permission to speak the truth in love. You welcome their probing questions and they help to identify your blind spots. They have permission to say the hard and honest truth to you.
Your counselor:
This person will dig into your heart, and find out how you are REALLY doing. They help identify the deeper issues and get to the root of any wrong beliefs or negative mindsets you might be carrying. It's not that they don't care about "what" you are going after, but instead their focus is primarily concerned with all those feelings and emotions!
These roles could be a friend, spouse, family member, co-worker, or mentor. The key is recognizing who they are and communicating to them their place of significance in your life. Of course one person could be all three of these roles as well.
Helen Keller had Mark, Anne, Alexander, and Henry...
Who are your cheerleaders, coaches, and counselors walking alongside of you?
If you know who these people are, excellent! Be sure to say THANK YOU to them today!
If you are aren't quite sure, ask God to give you those people of encouragement, support, and love. He is good and will provide!
"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...
But it requires people to make the dream a reality."
-Walt Disney
